Mark Wilson, widely recognized as diewiththemostlikes, is a digital artist and writer from Indiana. His work delves into themes of overconsumption and absurdism, filled with pop culture references and incisive commentary on contemporary life.

Renowned for his prolific output of profoundly raw pieces, Mark stands out in the space. Despite lacking a traditional artistic background, he has boldly experimented with various mediums, including AI, generative code, and painting.

Mark's unique contributions as a writer have led to collaborations with notable publishers like Orbis Tertius Press and Fly On the Wall Press, while his work as an artist has gained international recognition through global exhibitions in cities like Milan, Venice, and New York.

What is something you wish someone had told you before becoming an artist?

I’ve always been an artist regardless of advice, designation or prescription. I revel in that absence. though it would have been nice to know that at some point others would enjoy my creations. when no one did. though I consider those consuming failures formative too. I derive creativity through that type of destruction. creating for no one is vital.

What does your creating process look like?

I seek stories that don’t want to be told. undesirable filth and unthinkable excess. hometowns and dying memories. distilling unreciprocated orgasms. extracting them from holes and wounds that have lived with them forever. hoisting them into the polluted sky. a documentarian for our indifferent demise.

What is one thing you think artists should focus more on, and why?

creation for the sake of creation. there is a lot made for the sake of sale. manufactured. processed with nitrates and eager to be carelessly shoved into a hole.

What’s the hardest part of being an artist?

the parts that require no artistry.

Why do you create art?

I create because I have to create.
